Devoid of words I find myself again
Sufficient to express what lies within;
I wrest in vain to turn a phrase and then
Stare blankly into space – where to begin?
Thoughts come but leave as quickly as they came;
If they were meant for me why would they flee?
Should I assume they were not mine to claim
To brush upon the page creatively?
I trudge this arid land, relief can’t find;
Can’t quench this parching thirst that sears my soul;
A poet without words, with barren mind
I feel absurd; expression makes me whole.

I’ll find refreshing springs again one day
Until I do - I have no more to say.

Denise, I think I am going through the same writer's block, but I have just given up trying to write. I think you did a great job here expressing what many a poet goes through from time to time. Glad you were able to at least get this one out

Denise, you can't leave without first saying hello...which always leads to more...

so, more soon...

A poet with writer's block is very much like someone lost in a desert. But I'm telling you, if I could write like this when I had writer's block, I'd be happy!
I hope you get over your "writer's block" soon, my friend.

Oh, I can relate to this, Denise, it is so real for me as I read. Thank you for posting this one.

What is that you express in your eyes? It seems to me more than all the words I have read in my life.

Denise,

absolutely beautiful!!!

Look within the heart of a poet, and you will see a reflection of their soul.

Denise~
Let go of my leg ! !

I'm laughing -
and not because this poem is funny ...
but because I have a warped sense of humor
and Arid is a deodorant !!!
Just what a perspiring -
er, I mean aspiring poet needs
when they are sweating one out.

You tickle me.
See you back on Monday, dear lady !

You call that writer's block? I've read most of your postings here and absolutely love your poetry.  Even when your words are hard to come by.

Dare not deter this just repose
For if you do, you can suppose
This poet with no verse to spill
And writer's block shall find the quill

But if you leave this poet be
No doubt the morning sun shall see
A masterpiece of words in rhyme
A work of art in metered time.
