Love Is Not An Easy Ride

Love swept me away in her ever flowing river divine
And for a while I admit that I felt more than fine
But now I'm looking at the sad wreckage of my heart
It rips my soul out thinking that we will soon part
These gapping wounds bleed with the tears of pain
Loving you and being loved by you it isn't a fun game
Being touched by your soul and caressed by your heart
Well let's just say my soul wasn't being very smart

I thought that diving into your love was a like a dream
I didn't comprehend that you had your very own scheme
An agenda that doesn't read like a fairy tale would
I'd back out now, or I would if only my heart could
I'm stuck between the devil and the deep blue sea
Loving you it doesn't mean I'm in heaven you see
I can't understand why you wanted me in your net
Why did you have to hold me, trap me, was it for a bet?

But I'm caught and it's not how I'd choose my fate
I thought I could love and leave but now it's too late
Once your heart had stamped its name right into mine
I should have realised that my life wasn't at all fine
Whatever dreams I had, have disappeared into the night
I've lost everything of mine, I live only in your light
Truth is only real to me if it speaks with your voice
I don't want to keep loving you but I have no choice

Love isn't an easy ride it's more like a wild-eyed horse
I don't speak about others love only mine of course
But this horse of love is certainly kicking up the dust
I think I'll stay on, but this mad horse I don't trust
It's jumping and kicking and spinning me all around
And I'm desperately hoping I won't hit realities ground
I enjoy the thrill of an exciting and exhilarating ride
What I find so difficult is that my soul I can't hide

There's a lot of truth in this one Marsha and I thought you wrote it very well....love is a wild ride...and it changes all the time... but it's still the best wild ride going if you can ride it out and win a place in the golden years of content....good stuff.. I really enjoyed...ethome........

When you own a horse, you must always get back on once thrown...again, and again...and again...

go to it!

Marsha~ So true, love is not an easy ride. It's hard to get back in the saddle and try again after a getting your heart broken one too many times, but then again...
love makes the world go round, so we keep trying!
Good write from you, very heartfelt.

Ethome, thank you for the compliment, I agree, it is a wildly exciting ride, and it is the ride of a lifetime. But... and you could hear that coming I'm sure, but it does take an awful lot of skill to stay on the horse. I know I can ride, I've even jumped a few fences, but I've never been on a horse that feels as if it's trying to unseat me all the time. The closest I've ever been to this is being on a horse that hasn't been out of the stable for close on a week and has had far too many oats. (So I'll keep holding on, but if I end up on the ground I hope I fall into a pile of hay and not in front of a car.)

Kari, it would be easier if the horse was even half trained, this one keeps bolting as soon as I try to put the halter on. And it's not been broken to the saddle, so I'm going to have to ride it bareback. I'm not even sure it can understand me, whoever rode this before certainly didn't treat it very well. So I'm still advancing with the halter, and feeding it toffee.
Take care

Amy love, it's the only thing to do is keep the faith. It's hard, and it's even harder to do it and keep smiling, but I'll try to, which is all any of us can do. I'm glad you like this one love, and how are you, keeping your chin up I hope. Look after yourself, keep smiling and keep your love in your thoughts and in your heart. Take care sweetie, love

Blooming Rose, Thank you, all I want to know is why do I get lifes challenges. (Don't answer I know why, It's because HE has decided that I need to learn and not having learn the lessons I should have it's now time I did) Doesn't make it any easier though does it.
Take care

Marsha,
       this is great. . . wonderful poem. . .

I just have a question for the audience. . . what if that horse breaks it's leg??

Marsha--

You have not lost everything...you speak with your own voice of poetry...and you speak with strength of spirit!

Well if you are going to go for a wild ride it might as well be one of love.  I know that it can be the wildest ride ever as I have been there myself and though the thought of getting back in the saddle is a scary one, it is one that keeps drawing us back in by way of new promises.  Wonderfully written my friend and I do so hope that you are okay.  I hope that this is not going on in your real life and if it is then just tighten your grip and hold onto that saddle with all you got.  Hugs to you my friend and president.

Ah interesting that you mentioned a wild horse...as much as we would like to ride that horse and tame that horse the horse remains determined to deposit our body in the dirt...and so must love willingly and eagerly come to us...we do not want to break love in like a wild horse...just my thoughts and experiences in relationships I've been involved in...getting off that wild horse and backing off now...James

Sven thank you, and if it does then I'll fetch the vet and get it fixed, and then I suppose I'll lug it around until it can start kicking again. Fool that I am, you didn't think I'd say shoot the horse did you, no I know, everyone knows I'm far to soft.

Martie, thank you very muchly, I do appreciate it you know I really do.

Jon, I'm fine, it's been one of those weeks, but I'm fine truly. Thank you

Paula, I wasn't asking for an armchair ride, but it's obviously not worth my while kicking against fate. Life and love will be what they will be. Thanks love, no you are quite right I don't want to be too comfortable, but I can't really see that happening. And my "knight" wouldn't last 5 mins on this horse, would he?
take care love

Charisma, thank you so much, I really do appreciate it honestly.

Mark my friend, I'm sorry I missed your reply but I am actually working, no truly I am! Unfortunately I have to keep leaving this in the middle, but I should be okay for a little while. Thank you, it's okay I'll be fine, I hope, I think it's because it's a while since I've been in the saddle. I just need to remember to keep my heels down and and to roll with it.   Love is worth a few hard bumps, and it's certainly a wild ride. And nothing that is worth holding is too easy is it?

James, Mmmmm I think that is exactly it, love is horse and rider in perfect accord, spirit and heart uniting to be one.
