Sage muse reposed on mountain high,
...surveyed the world below,
With glorified enlightenment,
...his wisdom would bestow,
Philosophes would scale the heights,
...to seek the truths of man,
Muse in didactic diatrabe
...regaled truths with elan.
One day a lowly mendicant,
...traversed the muse's peak,
Searching out the learned man,
...with whom he hoped to speak,
The beggar reached the mountaintop,
...and questioned of the muse,
If one were granted single wish,
...what should a person choose?
The muse replied, a simple choice,
...'Tis knowledge must elect,
For wisdom is the key to life,
...'Tis what I would select,
As beggar walked down mountainside,
...he turned and looked above,
I guess I'm just not erudite,
...For I'd have chosen love.

I vote love...

Mike* Your writing pulls me in to it's weave
and surrounds me until I reach the end and
then it's like a gust of wind...taking my
breath away...this was beautiful and so full
of the spark that lights the poet's
heart...absolute perfection Mike~

The sage just didn't have all the answers did he? Well this is a wonderful tale of life ans the lessons therein and it just keeps reminding me why I love to keep coming back to Passions and read the thoughts of fellow poets. The works of poetic art are prolific here and always there is some wonderful real events and imagined magic to be read.......  .....great job!! ethome

OH Mike..I am with you...my vote would be for love...this is a deep question...but the answer just seems so very obvious...knowledge is easily gained every day...love is an elusive dream...hard to find harder to hold...still I vote for love
