Do your best

Time holds hands a little while
Only once you shop the store.
Your tarry may not be in style
And sometimes feel there should be more.

The clock gives you, but one chance
To catch the ring of cognizance.
After that its fer-de-lance
And you are out of circumstance.

Play the game as well you can
Play it hard and to excel.
Business man or artisan.
Pick the cell where you do well.

All the tool are given you
Regardless of how you fare
It's yours to sharpen and do
Make the best your sun and air.

It's not for me to guide your test
I'll only say to do your best.

Wake up running as does the cheetah in the morn when the meal is still in slumber.  Excellent words of wisdom from you.

Seymour~

'Pick the cell where you do well.'

I always try my best.
Let none call me a ne'er-do-well
I am but a poet
Lock me in my cell ! !

And do they have padded cells for us poets ???

You're WONDERFUL !

Sy - another great read.  I have just a minor point to bring out - do you think it's safe to ask Toerag to do his best?  I mean, he could be a real devil, yanno?  And balladeer... well, I don't think we need togo there, do you?  Other than that - another terrific typically-Sy poem.

LngJhnAg,
Thanks and I haven't noticed any of Toerags work lately. I'll keep looking.
