Long ago
There were two friends:

One was a bird
With great wings,
And the other
Was a respected
Tyrannosaurus rex.

The bird flew majestically
And was envied by most animals,
The tyrannosaurus terrified
All creatures
Except  his friend: the bird.

Time passed and
Things changed.

The environment became
Hostile to both friends:
the bird and the rex.

One day the bird
Went to visit his friend.

“Tye, we cannot move anywhere,
We have to adapt or we will die”.
Said the bird.

“Never! I will never adapt!
I will never give up
Being respected and feared”.
Answered the rex.

Years later
The rex disappeared.
The bird is still living: he adapted.

Now he is an awkward animal: a penguin.
He lost his beautiful wings
He cannot fly any more
But….he “survived”.

ghirgag - this is SO true!  Sometimes it seems that just as I have life well in hand, it throws something new at me, and I have to learn to adapt all over again.  Excellent writing!
