Ah...that's what they're called-Hibiscus!!!

Thanks Marge, I have a bush in a pot on my front terrace. We all love it!

(I usually aquire cuttings, and forget to label them...a dumb gardener's technique, but quite exiting when I do find out what things are called!)

Tee-Hee-Hee at you, KifKif~

I'm a snipper and a clipper too ... I carry a ZipLoc bag with a damp paper towel in it in my purse at almost ALL TIMES~
Most of my garden is made up of little snitches of nature~

I love getting them started and 'sometimes' I forget to label my colors ... but then they burst out in bloom and I'm reminded of just why I clipped it in the first place~

Good luck with yours ...~

You are a jewel, you know that, right ?
YEP !  Ya' are !

Tropical beauties.  This looks like one that I raised inside for several years.  Same bloom but too tender for my garden.  Love, Joyce

Good idea, Marge-a self-sealing plastic bag's always handy-I will do that. It's amazing how long cuttings last just in a pocket, though, isn't it? Especially African Violet. My gardening experiments are 'let's see how long this can survive and thrive in my care'. As I'm on the top floor of an apartment block, my garden's 2 terraces on the roof. Everything's in pots. It's quite difficult to provide everything a plant needs in a pot...my orange tree's not doing too well. Any tips?

Thanks gals ... you know I love sharing~

And, KifKif~

I used to work as an Executive Secretary for one of the largest growers of potted plants in Florida ... your citrus most likely needs to be 'potted up' ... to give the roots a chance to spread out ... then, make sure it gets watered lightly each day, and a citrus fertilizer used sparingly, and lots of warm sunshine~

What type of orange tree do you have ?
What size is it ?

Let me know ... I think I can help a little bit~

Email me if you want ... my email is shown at the end of my messages~

Marge,

Thank you for sharing this beauty from your garden... Smiles... My wife and I were in the front yard yesterday planting some ground cover (easter bonnet and perennial petunias) when our neighbor came over for conversation and I suppose to be a bit nosy... He made a statement on the lines of that it's so good to see a married couple working together... We then explained to him (jokingly) that it was our anniversary and that this is what we do now that we're older for fun and entertainment. Smiles. God bless you and again thank you for sharing.

cool-my tree's just a basic...it says 'citrus sinensus.' I think the fruits are best for making jam. All the leaves are falling off. It's about 6ft. I'll check it doesn't need repotted, and get back to you, Marge.

LightHouseBob~
*giggling* with you~

KifKif~

Okay ... here's a page link about your little orange tree~

Not sure if it will last much longer in a pot ... it needs to grow~

Thanks, I'll check that. I know what you mean...confining a living thing to a pot, yet  I've seen massive things thrive in pots. I suppose I'll just have to figure out ph levels and nutrients, to make sure it gets everything it needs.

There's a roof garden across from me that has a whole grove going on. I look over wistfully...
