Unused Wings

Why are you earthbound, little bird?
God gave you wings, but you don't fly.
You run and hide from predators;
Is it that you're afraid to try?

Where did you come from little bird;
All by yourself, without a friend?
The answer I will never know;
I sadly offer quail-mix blend.

We're meant to be one of a flock;
The word is covey, in your case.
Yet somehow fate has touched us and
A lonely future we both face.

We had our wings, we didn't use them.
Unexercised, they droop, we lose them.

I agree with Marge about the "grounded" bit but, there is always time to excerse those wings. It might be painful for the first little while. The muscles have to be strengthened. All we need if the courage to try.

Marilyn.

Joyce:  Sweet poem!  Glad your little quail is still around.  I guess traumatic things happen in the lives of birds too!

Lovely poem, Joyce...maybe there is a time when we let courage take wing in our hearts before we truly can fly...Hugs, Ellie

Joyce, this is a really good poem. I love little
birds. They are so cute.

I hope it learns to fly soon, too.
Hugs,
Ethel

This is the time for little birds to fledge and leave the nest...most do..but some are not able to make it on their own...God has a plan...we must accept His wisdom...well done, Joyce..
