THE BLIND MAN

I saw a blind man
On a crowded street,
Smiling and nodding
To all those he did meet.

This man had no eyes
With which to see,
But he saw very much
More than me.

For I walked down
That very same street,
And not one person
Did I meet.

If we traveled backwards, from end to beginning, would the road, I wonder
Be the road we traveled from beginning to end?   ©das

I'm not sure I get it.  I guess you're saying he could see more without eyes than you did with them.  Joyce

That is absolutely right, for one point, plus not hurrying around a faceless face in a crowd but open to acknowledging others and how many of us actually do do that in our hurry scurry world?

Spirit,

I really like this poem and the message you share with it. If only more people were "blind".

I think I get your message. Blind men with hearts can "see" more than those with eyes who refuse to look deeper into those they meet along the way. "Blessed are those who have no eyes but can see", says the Good book, or something like that.

Mmm.. yeah I like the message in this. It reminds me of the difference between a kid's view and and adults view.. a kid notices all the little details, the spots on a lady bird, a wrinkles in someones smile, and the twinkle in the eyes of strangers, and an adult can pass all of those by in their hurry to get to work or to the airport to pick up a relative.. I enjoyed your poem!

It's nice to share - kiss someone when you have a cold.

Milton thanked God for his blindness. He said it opened the eyes of his soul.
