Enough of this get up off your backside no more to just rusticate
You can feel and touch you can see and hear even think and test fate
You even have your own teeth you can smile so lose the frown
Your mind not as sharp as when young still memories of the past abound

Poor baby poor me the name of the song you sing at morning light
Will lay heavy on your shoulders through the day 'till dark of night
Lift the shades let the sunshine scare away the shadows inside
In no time you can remove the dust where the shine does hide

Watch a sunrise don't just lay in bed stand up straight breathe fresh air
Quick make the bed so it won't beckon you to get back in there
Find your walking shoes put them on even if you don't intend to go out
And get a smile on that face come on old girl and lose the pout

So you listened in as I gave myself this little pep talk this morning
I'm afraid I'd been in a rut feeling sorry for myself finding life boring
I think it worked for me 'cuz I even opened the door swept the step
Took a walk around even had a smile for the calico cat I met

It is good to be alive!

At this time of year, when we are tired of winter, it is easy to feel sorry for oneself! Good that you had the initiative to pull yourself out of it!

Yes! It is good to be alive! Wonderful pep talk..we all need to give ourselves one now and then. Ellie

a subtle rebuff of the couch potato mentality..very nice flow to this (narrative?)

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

Larry C, I love it over here!  Not ready for #19 though.

Trillium, I don't "do" snow any more.  Thanks for the answer.

ellie LeJeune, RIGHT!  This pep talk worked, but some don't.

pegasus111, thanks
