Moon Watch

Awhile ago, the wind arose
And interrupted my repose.
I saw the stars were lost from sight
By clouds that traveled through the night.
Like galleons, they sailed full bore
To reach some far, unknown shore.

The waves that pounded on the rocks,
Were full of fury; sent small shocks
Along the ground and I could feel
A trembling beneath my heel.
The trees were thrashing all around
And throwing twigs upon the ground.

Tumultuous air smelled of the sea.
Of salt and seaweed; mystery!
When back inside, I stayed awake
And listened to the shutters shake.
My house is strong, I have no fear
The storm would ever enter here.

But yet, I was too tense to sleep.
With every crash, my heart would leap
And when it finally was gone,
I snuggled down and with a yawn,
Drifted off to deepest sleep
And left the moon, my watch to keep.

Wonderfully descriptive poem! I could smell the sea and feel the gusts of wind as i read!

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.

lovely rendition of the stormy shore and the power of the sea.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost
