I'm Baaaack - from my visit to Amish country where the corn grows slowly indeed..  Colonel Magic A magic place where time stands still, In sleight illusionary way; As country folk remand new will By clinging fast to simpler day. Reliving epochs seen as past, As yesterday from morrow's shorn Defying modern day's repast, Time spent to greet earth's sprouting corn. Life's wheel bespoke divergent cog, In turn enjoined, allied at busk; As kernels grown of common cob. A harvest pared of silken husk. Our choice to till past fields secure, Predicting crops yield just amount; Or opt future's magic allure - To forge great lakes and move staid mount. Nan~ This is just delightful. Of course I loved the fact that you mentioned the Indian ritual of the harvest of the corn. Wonderfully done. Fantastic, as always...and you know, of course, that they are selling "trips" to people to go watch the corn grow... but even the imagination of the mid- westerners... has nothing to match the magic of your words... Thanks all... Marge - The busk did seem a fitting cohesive verse.. Thanks... Martie - It was a vivid experience for sure.. PdV - A good time was had by all - lots of corn - lots of laughs... The second verse gave me some trouble until I got the cadence down. Again, Nan, wonderful job...rich in metaphor and meaning, as I could see such hidden behind each line. Colon-el Magic...fitting tribute to the Magic Capital of the World. Alicat |
