A Lover's Chance

Would rainbows still streak prisms 'cross the sky
Would mountains still rise so majestically
Would sunset fields glow amber in my eye
Would little brooks still babble to sea

Would scent of jasmine scale the garden wall
Would egret wade so elegant a dance
Would I see life with equal splendor now
If I had never risked a lover's chance

If I had never tread the steps of want
And dared to love with truth and openness
I never would have opened up my heart
Or known the splendid beauty of a kiss

Despite the painful loss, my heart is glad
It gave all the desire it could give
In doing so, the love that I once lost
Has somehow truly taught me how to live

It engraved the feel of passion in my heart
That now can full contain magnificence
And love as I have never loved before
And live with joy in every circumstance

'Tis surely better to have loved than not
It is because of that most fragile chance
That butterfly enraptures so the soul
That egret wades so elegant a dance

Yes, Elizabeth. Lovely work here. It's better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all, and you have said it so beautifully.

Gosh, could you imagine what life would be like if no one ever took a chance on love?
Great poem, Liz.

Like always, Liz, all I can say is that this is beautiful work... I do not even dare to say otherwise

By popular choice these words are the most ringing...
'Tis surely better to have loved than not
It is because of that most fragile chance
That butterfly enraptures so the soul
That egret wades so elegant a dance

....
me, ofcourse, am in butterfly mood these days, so how can I deny the beauty of these lines?

kidding, Liz, This is fabulous work...really enjoyed this one too...

regards,
sudhir.

Best wishes,

Elizabeth, my friend~
Well, it certainly appears that your muse likes the coastal scene.
Lovely, my dear.
Just lovely.

Who knows how we affect the nature of things by our actions or inactions?

Another lovely keeper, but all of yours are, Liz!

Beautiful as always, Liz. My ex-wife must have loved me 'cause she called me an egret....or was that ingrate? Well, something like that
