I am shunned into a corner
Thinking of all the people I wish I knew
I look at my bruised heart
And notice everyone around me
Is bleeding inside
I contemplate the logic and the reason
And take to notice the uniqueness in everyone
But I still can't help but wonder
And so I ask myself
Why do we want the things we have to chase?
Why do we find thrill in the flight and not in the ride?
Why is it that we hold in our posession the ability to defeat each other?
I am shunned into the corner
And I lye awake at night
Thinking of everything and nothing at the same time
I look at my fresh wounds
And notice the turmoil whirling around me
That is eating us alive
I comprehend the madness and serenity
And take to notice the constant doubt in everyone
But I still can't help but wonder
And so I ask myself
What are we all trying to prove?

Excellent Kari! I loved your thoughts in this. I've been asking these same questions for a long time, and you've expressed this so perfectly. I really enjoyed this, well done!

Best wishes,
/Kit

This was great. I really liked this poem due to it's philosophic questions. I really enjoyed the last question most of all. Keep it up and post more!

Excellent questions you've asked in this poem.  If only one of us knew the answers...

"Why do we find thrill in the flight and not in the ride?"
