Elyria, Oh *at the moment*

It seems like lifetimes ago,
when three teenagers played in Quarry.

when four young people sat in the bedroom of a house and talked of dreams, and lives that never seemed to change.

was it really so long ago???

So much HAS changed.

But still, you and I..are the dreamers.
The ones with the faraway gaze in our eyes.

Forever wanting,
forever waiting,

Even back then...looking to the two others who were together...
we wanted them.

That makes me laugh even now...
how we grieved.

Children and their fantasies.

I'm wondering if there is a reason that I found the people again that I loved so much at one time.
You were my brother once long ago
especially when I needed you..

I wonder if there is such a connection again..
if you would let me in as you once did.

Because we all need friends,
and we all need people who care...

and you know what??

I care.

I like this. Brings back memories. Time, distance and life seems to remove us many times from the friendships that were the deepest, but time nor distance nor life can remove the place we hold for special friends in our hearts. I recently wrote a poem about an old friendship I thought had gone "South". I'll post it for you. It's called Winter's Way.
