They sit side-by-side, the mother
and her daughter
The talk turns to life and all that
it holds...and doesn't
What age would each like to be?
Twenty-four seems to be the perfect age for both
They share their reasons why...
The daughter's tinged with eager anticipation and wonder at all that will be
The mother's colored by remorse and regret of what should have been and wasn't

Oh Linda, I loved this!!! When we are young we so look ahead, wanting time to move swiftly, eager yes for what is to come...and then we get to look back...Just loved the whole concept here!!!

Hi Linda. Oh I agree, 24 was a perfect time, especially in retrospect. If only...the theme for my life.
I hope your daughter has tons of happiness in her life. You sound like a wonderful mother.

Linda...through the few poems I have read of yours, I already feel as if I know you and your daughter.  That is the mark of a very good poet.  Never stop writing.  Hardrock

Thank you all for your kind words.  I find it easiest to write about my life and am amazed so many can relate...for so long, I was so alone in my feelings.  I am so very glad I found this site.  Linda
