I recall how desolate the ocean seemed
Yet in my eye there was still a gleam,
But being there alone with all my sadness
Remembering tears through all the madness.
Sunset hovered in the sky just behind
I've never had so much on my mind,
Even the smell there was not the same
Which brought about an emotion I cannot name.
I tackled my demons from spring before
Holding myu composure and nothing more,
The palm trees danced in the evening breeze
Giving me somewhat a feeling of ease.
Reflection on a time here that made me smile
Realizing now it has been a while,
The traffic behind makes not a sound
Here a heart was lost and never found.
For now no laughter fills these ears
Yet I stay to face my fears,
Pelicans in groups go floating by
In the lonely tropical autum sky.
I close my eyes and it all comes clear
Just how much I gained and lost here.
I learned to love and it caused me pain
As if my efforts were all in vain,
The ocean waves claim a hypnotic hold
Even as the air around me becomes bitter cold.
I return here though the memories never cease
For of me here on the sand will always be a "peace".

Jeremy, that was the first one I read of yours, very nice. The ocean can always stir up melancholy in me, and the sound of the waves brings back memories.I found and lost love there also. But its still my favorite place to be.

I feel the same way about the ocean
I spent my youth at the ocean
I have moved from there so now i only have a river.
some people will never how waves and sand
make me feel.
undescibable at times beatiful work here
I loved this one it touched my heart

Thank you everyone, I had another here called "East Coast" if you would like to read it too.  Though I've pained a lot at the ocean's side, it too, is still my favorite place to be.  Thank you all for your kindness!!!
