What's a Man

by

Michael Auguste

What is a man, oh let me see...
Someone who puts his wants behind
And puts hers first, instead of his
And much more loves what's in her mind

He keeps her safe, but when she's hurt
Her tears he'll kiss to ease the pain
And seek her heart, embrace it close
And work each day so love won't wane

An upright man, no vices kept
He is faithful and doesn't roam
He will not cause tears to be wept
His goal to be a have a happy home

He craves the fragrance that she is
And breathes her hair to take it in
He touches her in ways that last
So wonderful, it feels like sin

His eyes do wander, but on her
And traces her from head to toe
He seeks her eyes and warm embrace
And keeps love fed that it may grow

Sometimes from work he'll place a call
So he can see how her day is
He cannot wait to hurry home
To gimpse her eyes and waiting kiss

They often sit and quietly talk
Her voice a whisper to his ears
They always hold hands as they walk
Her heart is safe, no need for fears

So what of masculinity
Of strength, of boldness and the rest?
Reserved, until there is a need
For now, he'll savor just the best

Do you suppose if he's found, he can be cloned?  You really know desires of the female population well.  Great work!

Parts of this poem feel delightfully sinful, my friend...and sweet. I admire what you're saying here, Michael, as surely you knew I would.
