I must give credit where credit is due for this writing.  If it were not for “ddgoose”, this poem would never have been written.  I humbly thank you “dd” for your help and cooperation while writing this poem.  Thank you so very much, from the bottom of my sincere heart.

            “AN ODE TO US”

Do you remember when our love was fresh and new,
and each moment spent together
always smelled like the fresh morning dew?
So tender and sweet, we longed for one another,
we never even thought of being with any other.

We have so many memories of laughter and fun,
of vacations, beaches, and playing in the sun.
We loved each other beyond our wildest fantasies,
with a love we thought would last, for many centuries.

We were so very young, and so foolish, and so much in love,
promising each other a romance, faith, and the sky up above.

I remember our innocence and a love that we idolized,
and we longed for each other with troubles so few
always staring lovingly into each others innocent eyes.
Days spent together were filled with love and our fantasies
from morning till night – working hard to make a happy family.

Now the years have gone by, and all we thought we could redeem
has been washed away to troubled times, and came apart in midstream.
But now I am asking if this love of ours can be saved,
or will I always remember the fond memories I crave?

Memories are cherished gifts for two people to share,
Some are made of lasting love, others of misery and despair.

Many will be lost because two minds are no longer a team
and so very many lost, to broken hearts and broken dreams.

poutprincess,
Thank you for coming by to read this poem. I give most of the credit to "dd", as it was mostly her words that made this work possible. I too hope that "dd" asks me again to do something together.  And thank you poutprincess for your kind words, I always appreciate them from you.

Hi Marge,
Thank you for coming by to read this poem. And thanks once again for your kind comments.

Hello ethome,
Both of us thank you for your coming by, and for your kind comments. I hope that we can do another together soon.

Hi tracie66,
Yes, tenderly sad it is, but "dd" has a way with words. Thank you so much for your generous comments.

Bill...
This little gem was right under my
nose, but somehow escaped my mouse
    arrow until now!!
What a beautiful thought there is
    here..."..will I always remember the
    fond memories I crave.."
       It's bittersweet, almost like my
    strawberry-rhubarb pie...............
              Great job, my friend,
                 (both you and DD)

I have but one goal in
life.........
To make you smile!
