I once had a blanket,
Threadbare and worn,
I lost it for a time,
And for it did mourn.
It was really nothing special,
Rat-hold and torn,
But to me it held value,
On any cold morn.
Your heart's like that blanket,
With holes it's adorned,
It's tattered, it's beaten
From shame and scorn.
But just as I found it
With all of its wear,
It holds special value
And I treat it with care.
And just like my blanket
Missing for so long
I would miss your heart
If ever twere gone.
So keep your heart safe
And treat it with care
And maybe a piece of me
Will still reside there.

Knowlege tempered by wisdom...Wisdom tamed by youth.

I'm crying Robert...thanks.  I read this, and you know I'm really bad about trying to be the *tough girl* I am, and not let my heart cry.  I didn't know how bad I needed comfort until I read this poem...I can't stop crying now.  It means so much to me that you took the time to write this.  Thank you from the bottom of my tattered heart.  I will heed your advice, and take better care of it in the future.  It's just so hard sometimes - we all dream and wish, and hope for just a moment of real happiness....I guess at times it's too much to ask.  I'm learning patience.  Sometimes our dreams cloud our vision, and we tend to lose our grip on reality - and that being that we are all human.  As siblings are few in my family, you are the brother I've always wanted, and now am lucky to have...You will always have a place in my heart...You are too good to me.      Love you Robert.....Gennifer
