She's fifteen years old
Not much she can do.
Soon she'll give birth
And start a life that's new.

A few mistakes were made
Now her father disowns her.
The little girl he once knew
Has now become a blur.

She has a home no more
No place to lay her head.
She's beginning to think
She'd be better off dead.

Endless nights in the cold
Restless nightmares and dreams.
Sometimes she thinks that
It's not as real as it seems.

But she made the choice
To do things unprotected.
And now she has to live
With all the lives she's affected.

ok, this has to stop, this is the eighth poem today to give me goosebumps   Well done Lynn, it was powerful. So much in life can change all because of one short moment.

I am not a poet, I am merely one who speaks in emotion

Lynn-
Written well.

IF this is indeed a true story then:
it seems a very high price to pay for a 'mistake'.  My heart would go out to her with love and understanding.

Shame on her 'father' ... sounds like he isn't much of one.  Oh yeah, kick her out of the house, into the cold ... like that's going to undo it !

It occurs to me that many make a 'choice' to do many things everyday 'unprotected'
... with less penalty.

I thank God that I was never penalized that heavily for the mistakes I've made in life.

Fifteen ... fifteen ... heaven forbid that we all get judged so harshly for our 'fifteen'-year-old mistakes.

Lynn, if you know her ... sounds to me like she could use a real friend.
May God be with her.

Thank you everyone for your responses..
And Marge, I do know her. She happens to be one of my best friends. I've told her that if there is anything I can do for her to let me know. She moved in with her mom tonight. I'm gonna try my best to visit her as often as I can. I just hope things will work out for her. Her boyfriend is very upset about it, but he said he'd stay by her side no matter what. He's only 16. I really believe he will keep his word. He's been one of my best friends for two years. I just pray that they can handle everything.

Oh my...I see this all the time in my job, young girls 13, 14, 15 and 16, still children in a sense themselves and now faced with the task of raising a child of their own. The biggest mistake in this case is that of the girls father not being a support to her in what is a very stressful and frightening time in her life. Very sad indeed

Oh how I know this all too much.  This touches me deeply!  So well said though!

Just be glad I'm not your child! *evil grin*

Lynn, this is so sad. I had barely put Barbie away at 15! I hope she makes it. Prayers are being said for her.-SEA

Such a sad situation for everyone involved, but i do believe that when a little time passes this will all work itself out.  How true that all of us have made mistakes and now have to consider how our actions affect the ones around us that love us.  But I believe a fathers love will prevail when he can work past the hurt and focus on the love in his heart.  Til than, someone will be there for you.    James

Well written poem, my heart goes out to your friends, and my they find peace and inner strength in what rough road lies ahead for them.  I'm sure they will make it with a friend like you for support.

Thank you all for your comments. I think my friend will do ok. She's just two months, and is still very confused about what to do.
