Poetry, my Mistress,
A comforter thou art,
Subsides all my ragings,
Serenity to impart.

I get lost in thy presence,
All cares slip away,
The darkest of night,
Transforms into day.

In thy garden of leisure,
Thy beauties unfold,
My senses are heightened,
As thy nature I behold.

I'm engulfed by thy glory,
Immersed by thy peace,
Poetry, my Mistress,
May thy Charms never cease.

It's alwasy nice to have a door open that allows us to escape and become lost in the wonderful world of illusion and fantasy..how boring life would be without it!  Beautiful poem....

Dennis: What a beautiful poem and tribute to your great talents as a poet, for God has given you a wonderful gift that you use magnificently! Love, Sis

Summers haunting melody
that awakens
the butterflies,
calling them to join
the dance
in their silent song
of praise to God.

dennis..this is wonderful..i can truly relate..well, except that it might be that poetry is my savior!

i think you've done a fine job relating the way poetry is there to help you sift your soul..to warm you when your world turns cold..to give you light when you see only darkness...truly, poetry is a life-saver, and a "lover" of sorts, for some of us, aye

ok..i'm babbling..sorry..LOVED IT!

Dennis,
I'd tell your wife--but she already knows, she must share you with another--lets hope your poetry continues to make her laugh and find a sense of pride & serenity too.

Dennis, wonderful poem. Challenge well met.

why must we pray
screaming? why must not death be redefined? we shut our eyes we stretch out our arms and whirl on a pane of glass-patti smith
