All the posts on the first part of my life have given me the strength and encouragement to finish the post.  Thank you all.

A Harsh life lived: Settlin In

Two years went by
He turned eighteen,
The man found love
Or so it seeed.

They got married
In one short year
At age nineteen
He had to cheer.

They concieved,
On their wedding night.
Farther to be
It seemed so right.

Life is good
For man and wife
Work was hard
To always fight.

The months flew by
So rapidly
Til the day
They knew it'd be.

A little boy,
Both their hearts overjoyed
The news
Came from tests before.

A Harsh Life: Loss

At eight months,
His birthday came
So much in love
No complaints.

She said she'd
Meet him at the park
He agreed to
Meet 'fore dark

His relief was running late
And so was he.
He rushed to where
They said they'd meet.

He approached,
The dim lit spot
The flashing lights
His heart did stop.

Their before him
On the ground
His wife did lay
Cold, Face down.

The stomach that
Did move around
Now was still
They heard no sounds

They said the bullets
Missed their mark
But killed the same,
In that cold park

He kneeled close down
To her side
Took her hand
And softly cried

A Harsh Life Lived: What's left to be

All that's left
Is five long years
Now you know
Most his fears

There is so
much more to tell
I'll write it down
You'll hear it well.

Kevin,
A sad story indeed, but you are amoung friends who all have battle scars from this thing we call life. Our griefs and losses may not compare what you've been through but know this, we are friends who share and care for our family here at Passions. Looking forward to your future posts. Dennis :^)

and I'm sitting here thinking that one of my poems now has a dedication sticker on it...yowch! I don't know if I could go through something like that... You must be an incredibly strong person to have survived so much tragedy in your life.

Your story touches me deeply. You have been through a lot. Words fail me, I'm sorry for your loss. You have done a wonderful job writting these events in poem. You have made me ashamed to have complained about events in my own life. You show such strength, still.

It takes courage to write a poem like this. A heartbreaking story and very well written.
