A Reptile  Lost Among Your Fears

We travel the road of least resistance
change to please our friends.
We talk and walk and live our lives
to further someone else's ends.

If we could we would change colors
alter our bodies shape.
If we could we would learn languages
Seeing that it's self we rape.

We give to others till none is left
sharing for just poor me.
Don't know how to limit our gifts
it's the good guy we we want others to see.

If we could only change for true
become strong and in control.
Then we would be completed
a good person with our own soul.

I would like to hold you now
and dry away your tears.
But if I do, I'll cry your cry
and be lost among your fears.

~~~~~~~~~~
Another flash from the past-this
piece was written in 1992.  At the time,
I was on a road trip with a motorcyle
group and I was getting to know my
bithday present...she turned out to be
just as "adaptable" as myself- lol.
So much wisdom in the truth.  It's always cool to find all the stuff we wrote a long time ago, and it's cooler when that stuff is actually good!  See, mine is never actually good when I find it.  Thanks for digging through your past for us here at the Pub!
Hey Dude!! When did you start hangin' in the Pub? I remember well your first published and it is still as good now as it was then and this one I hadn't seen but enjoyed very much. I saw your reply to my reply in Open 7 and you asked where I was. Well, I spend a lot of time reading and not much writing. To be honest I think my muse died. I was going to borrow Marge's but she says hers is hard to get along with and keeps ya up at night. I sincerely love my sleep so I have to shop around for another one. Glad to see you posting though. Sure miss you!!! Sis
very creative...i am impressed by the way you use the natural phenomenon of chameleons and other such animals as a plea for one to adapt to life ")
i realise i haven't welcomed you yet....may your stay here be long and fulfilling
I am sincerely touched by y'alls warm welcome to the pub! I was quite bummed when #6 filled up and for some inner reason don't like to change venue...guess i'll stay here as long as y'all put up with me?
I have been writing since age 13 and saving since around 1972.  lol yes i do have a closet full of this stuff...and the matching file cabinet full of rejection slips!  Tis certainly nice to find someplace to publish the stuff, even though some of it must be drug into the light of day kicking and screaming all the way...isn't life amusing?
again thank y'all
