Lord, Bless this house
Whose walls have held
Life's hopes
Yet sadness and grief
Heard the joys of children
Felt the bitter sting of death

Bless the roof that sheltered
From harsh elements of weather
Bless the windows that
Let in the sunlight
Cheering souls
Bless the fireplace
Family members tended
Warming many a winter's night

Bless the memories
Of special moments past
When newlyweds' laughter
Could be heard
Bless the memories of the
Sounds of baby's first cries

Bless the memories of the past
As we make memories new
Refurbish this old house, Lord
Paint the walls with
The radiant colors
Of your love
Use your tools
As you see fit
To remodel
This old house
Into a place
You would be honored
To call your home

Septsong,
This is a lovely piece-kind of reminding me of the song,THIS OLD HOUSE.  But the difference being- the old house in the song is a goner, as a foregone conclusion.  Here you seek the blessing, refortification, even spiritually remodeling as life goes on-and new memeories and attachments are made.  A very enjoyable read. Thank you friend,  David

Hi Septsong, Love this. I am so sentimental
and our earthly structure have the same memories and specials to us, as you have written of.
Thank you for this poem. Once, I heard a message preached on "blessing this or that" in their home, you have given more meaning to that which I have heard. Lovely poem.

Sept- I think this is wonderful.  What a beautiful way to hold on to the past while stepping into the future, with His light doing the decorating.  Bonnie

This is great! And comes at a time when I'm remodeling my bathroom     Oh what a task that is.  But it can be taken more than just one way, in a wordly way, and also a spiritual way!

Well needed reminder and lesson!  Thank you

Deleeme- yes I remember that song, thought of it when I was writing this, and yes this has a little different outcome.

Allecram- I am very sentimental also, I love old things and the memories attached to them.

BSC- We are in the process of remodling nearly a 100 old year house that my Grandfather built and does hold many happy and sad memories, most of which I will never know the half of, while I was writing this this old house reminded me too of my own(body house) that needs daily refurbishing from the Lord.

Whtdove- been doing the same as you remodling a bathroom and a kitchen too, so that played a part in the writing of this poem. Thank you all for your comments.

Dearest Rose; I love the tender way you have written this poem. As I read you comments to everyones replies, I see how it could apply to this old body too. Just think if these walls could speak? I really enjoyed reading this so much. Beautifully written too. Love, Ellie
