[PART FOUR: Giving Them their Way-But Having the Last Say]

I was not at all pleased by their decision
But I released Barabas, as a man of my word,
And bowing low, to their pressure
This Jesus I ordered, to be scourged.

Maybe by roughing him up a bit
Their pity on this man, I may invoke,
But even after such humiliation
On their words, "Crucify him," I choked.

For me, it was a "no win" situation
So I yielded, and gave them their demands,
But I made it clear with some water
"This is your mess,I'm washing my hands!"

They willing accepted the burden
"Let his blood, be upon us," they said,
"and even upon our children--
But we want to see this man dead!"

What a nightmare I had at the office
A day, in my bed, I should have stayed,
But one thing more I did order-
What the sign on his cross would display.

In three languages it was so written
"THIS IS JESUS, THE KING OF THE JEWS,"
This saying they wanted me to alter--
But of this, I did flatly refuse!

This just had to be one of my worst days
And a day I will never forget,
Yes, I had a bad day at the office
Who can blame me, for all that I did?

[the End]

[If you wish to read the scriptural accounts which I used as a basis for this Pilate Saga, you will find them in:MATTHEW 27:1-37/MARK 15:1-26/LUKE 23:1-
37/JOHN 18:28-19:22.  Thank you for taking the time to read this lenghty historical poem-David]

" for all that I did". He was a part of, an incredible part, of our redemption and salvation, and he didn't have a clue!
David; what can I say? This is a MASTERPIECE!!! Truly, you have outdone yourself here, my friend. You have, once again, given us an accurate account of scripture, thus continuing your ability to teach us the truths we al need to hear again and again. thank you for your gift of poetry and inspiring lesson. Ellie

Just got through reading all four and enjoyed them. Kind of tough to be a politician especially with an angry mob. That holds true today. Thanks for an excellent Good Friday read.

Dear David,
Seldom does anyone think of telling the story from the otherside. So imaginative. You are so gifted by the Lord. Your words always flow and lead us to some unexpecting places at times. Wonderful poem. I wish that I had just a little bit of your insight. Have a great Easter
Love,
Erie

David, this is fantastic. I read them all. The ultimate sacrifice. Even anger and confusion resulted in sactity. Only because it was Jesus. So many people live their lives based upon what others say and do. Thank God we received the second chance to believe in Jesus. I enjoy your verse so much.
Sincerely,
Regina

Hi David, As usual, all four parts superb.
These scriptures are hard to understand as Jesus was sent back and forth for the decision. You have done a great job re-telling the story, even the dream from the wife, will be running copies of these for later use with my grandkids. God Bless, Marcy

another great work of yours, i find this poem
seriously amusing. i enjoy the way you bring the character of pilate to modernization.
i can imagine how his feelings during this time in history did not differ much from the way you have portrayed them in this work.
i am impressed yet again by your truly
magnifiscent work.

David, I've just now read all 4 parts and can't find words to express my appreciation for your work in relating this from a different perspective.  Awesome! With your permission, I, too will print it out to read to my grandchildren.  A work well worth preserving. Thank God for your talent, efforts, insight and sharing so generously.
