I've had a humbling experience
That really laid me low,
I thought that I was on top of things
But there's so much I didn't know!

And lo, I had brought it on myself
No one else could I blame,
I didn't do the things I should--
I was made to feel the shame.

Often times sin is deceptive
(Seems without consequence),
When it's hidden and forgotten
Of it's harm, we're not convinced.

But sin is a deadly, slow poison
That brings us to death by degrees,
At some points, we may not e'en notice--
At others, we more clearly see.

LORD, help me to overcome weakness
To be undeluded by sin,
Clinging instead to my Savior
And finding my pleasure in Him.

We reap what we sow...great way to say it! Well done, David!

You are so right...sin moves slowly and deceptively when we allow it into our lives, destroying us from within.  Decadence is the word that comes to mind.  Great poem.

The roots of sin certainly are deep and difficult to get rid of.  Your poem so well brought that message across.  Thank you!

I completly agree David. Sin has many disguises. Very well written poem.
