Listening to every heart

Sunday’s Thanks

Is it truly within me, to be some devine inspiration
to a young or old heart, and cause some quick sensation;
to be a mentor very wise, and leave with loving heart
sage advice in trust given, or such that I may impart...?

For I’ve never found much myself in people my own age;
I find far wiser words in some young, and definitely the old sage,
you’ll find me with the grandkids, or people older than I
listening and hearkening, to hear their words and sighs...

I guess that is why I’m away from the folks that are my age
why, I’ve already lived their lives, they’ve nothing for my stage
so I take the new and young, and revere greatly the older ones
and yet pray God my shine strengthens all under his great Son!

Well done.

This is so very beautiful Sunshine! And though I believe you and I are about the same age, I think we would have a grand time together! But I know what you mean, I also love hanging out with the older folks and kiddies!

Sunshine....I too used to hang out with some quite elderly folks...Even my own relatives. and it's amazing what they have to offer....My uncle, when he was about 80, used to offer so much wisdom in a very humorous way....He was a preacher many many years ago, kinda one of them "Self proclaimed" preachers...We'd go visit him when we were youngsters....my dad would take him a bottle of Wild Turkey every time we visited. He had very severe arthritis, refused to take pills, and the doctor said that at his age, and since he wouldn't be going out of the house anyhow or driving, that the whiskey wouldn't hurt him at all. My father would tease him some about drinking liquor though...His responses were always hilarious.....One would be; "It's not what passes into your mouth that's sinful, it's what comes out of it." Or, "Only Wild Turkey or Jack Daniels for me, that cheap stuff comes up smooth though."

Great poem....great thought!
