For The Critic

Something critics never know
is what I call the writer’s secret.
Every writer, good or bad,
knows writing’s about the writer,
so when I see anonymous notes
from someone claiming to be a critic,
I read in his work a longing,
and a loneliness that leaves
within me a sadness hard to describe.
Welcome in, Mister Critic.
Your words help us all
In our quest to leave behind
something meaningful
for those who can’t.

You're write. My mom's friend was a film critic for the Apollo Spread and she died from an overdose, it must have been suicide.
