A Simple Kindness

It was a simple kindness,
Done me by her,
"Because," she said, "I love you."
I don't remember what it was,
. . . straightened my tie
. . . maybe it was my hair.
She's always looking after me.
Seems I always need attention.
But it's killing me
Because I love another.
So a simple kindness,
Done me by her,
Makes me see the other.
