A Dream

I can have you in my dreams
and so I choose to sleep
I can hold you, and caress you
knowing you are mine to keep

and when your lips touch mine
I can feel your deep desire
yes, in my deepest slumber
I am consumed by your fire

as breathless whispers of love
are muffled by our sighs
the dreamer can no longer deny
and the passion intensifies

while emotions feed my soul
and our hearts beat in perfect time
our bodies speak a language
compared only to sublime

as I awaken from my dream
my spirit is content
for though only in my slumber
with you... my love was spent.

I am new to the Passions of Poetry and this is my first post I hope I make alot of friends and recieve alot of criticism good and bad

Welcome, Rick2! This is a worthy entry to join the group. Reminds me of good ole Roy Orbison....in dreams you're mine....all of the time....we're together...in dreams.

they were nothing BUT a dream...

Well done. In my younger days this dream was all to familiar, but now the dream stands at my side. Thanks for the imagery.

Thank you all for your comments and it seems that more and more every day this dream starts to become a reality. I have many more poems about my beautiful brown eyed girl, I just wish I could share them with her.
