TWIDDLY DEE, TWIDDLY DUM

Twiddly dee, twiddly dum,
Ho hum, ho hum, ho hum.
I yawn, I sigh, I pass life by
Just twiddlin' da thumb.

While some go here, and some go there,
For you all go somewhere.
You work, you play, yet here I lay,
For I have not a care.

A tallyhe, a tallyho,
I have no where to go.
I laugh, I smile, but all the while
I ain't your average Joe.

I taste, I smell, I hear, I see,
But feel nothing in me.
I tick, I tock, but hear the clock,
In mocking misery.

I waste away another day
But what is there to say?
Ho hum, ho hum, twiddly dum,
Won't matter anyway.

Delightfully silly and reminiscent of the Nonsense Poets of the 1800's. Thank you for posting this...the ennui was tangible and tasted of dusty afternoons.

Welcome to Passions, I don't know why I'm here, or who I am, but I seem welcome anyway.
Keep writing I like your style.

How did you know what I was doing today?
Your poem likes me!

I have so much to get done
but haven't finished task one,
between ticking clocks and the
twiddling of a thumb
I'd have it all on the run
if I could just bring this
burned out mind back to un-numb!

This was a "fun" read. Light-hearted.

Your humor becomes more apparent with each piece. This likes me much as well.

Wow, this was great! You made me feel like it was o.k. to just hang back, and do nothing for a day. What a wonderful feeling, I could get addicted to feeling this way.

So your twiddling those their fingers on my keyboard are you. Who gave you the key to my office? Had to be OFO only one I trusted with the key. Maybe I was wrong, should not have let that one out!
