written four years ago...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Thunderstorms"

Flashing, creaking outside the windows,
Raindrops falling on the porches freshly,
The streets being swept away, comes the
       mighty rumble!
The feel of a quake, the tumbling waves
       which shock all our thoughts.
BOOM!
The night lights up, the clouds turn yellow,
       The winds storm about ruthlessly!
How it is to look about at all the
fluttering leaves! Whistling and
screaming the sea tides get darker
       and darker.
It creeps skyward like a monstrous
fog, then again comes the flashing
       streak of the crackling bolt,
As the rip currents retreat, on comes
       still a larger ocean!
If not to mention the pirates,
The ocean rules itself today!
In chilly and frosty streams the
Coast becomes clear, here comes again
The tremendous thunderbolts,
       The sea waves slapping wildly
       on the earth,
Inspired by all this terror,
Flooding up to the lighthouse,
       Comes the autumn breeze.
Graze not only the sand of the beach,
But also the paints of the houses.
Hearing the shorelines, all ships set
       on dock.
       Like burning kites, the lightning
       burns at a tree,
The waves of the sea getting bigger.
Ocean, Ocean!
       The waves whistling silently, then
ceasinglessly getting bigger,
See how water moves itself?
       So much power, so scary!
From the blue skies of sunny days
To the cloudy nights of winter,
Drizzles of frost layers on tips of grass!
       Thunder still rolling now,
Just like the rolling crash of tsunami.
My eyes lift up and the rain falls
on my face lightly,
Like the gentle touch of the
       southern breezes.

I was not listening to my Sociology teacher when I wrote this poem. Even school can be taken advantage of by poets such as I!

Thank you both.

Virtual Visuality!! I love this one. But one thing - storms aren't scary, they are beautiful!! A show of Mother Nature's true power. I love them..

Isis, storms have never scared me. I adore the raging winds and heavy rain, to the farthest extent, even hurricane-force. Personally... I've never confronted a hurricane but ... the beauty is just that of a tempest. I found something to haunt my thoughts. Think of the hurricane whipping rain across the streets, then turning away, and leaving the rain falling on your face lightly with a serenity that was not there before the hurricane.

I love the elements and seeing as we have thunder here as I write this.. I love to see the sky go dark and then the flashes and the rain always seems so warm on my skin..

Thanks again, Isis.

RainbowGirl: I find my poems to be a good reminder of events, because I can read them over again and again without tiring.
To be 100% honest I pulled off an all-nighter last evening, so I am tired. But when I am tired, I can still write poetry like this, with a little bit more excitement.

I'll dream of the lightning and the rain!
