~~~HIM~~~ He was a mystrious creature who came wondering into the neighborhood one hot summer day. His coat that he had was tattered and torn. He was like a salesman going door to door trying to sell his wares. No one was interested. They all just shoved him away. Who could be bothered to take the time to find out what he had to offer. When he came to my door, he softly knocked upon the screen. His eyes staring into mine deeply touching my soul. I opened the door to let him in knowing he was the one I needed. We went and sat down togather on my sofa. I offered him food and drink which he whole heartily excepted. For a while the conversation was one sided. He listen to my voice tell of all the heartache I had recently encounterd due to the divorce, finding a job and trying to raise the kids all by myself. He just sat there,listening intensely,pondering over everthing I told him. Every now and then he would ever so gently rub my arm. He made me feel so good. I tried to get him to tell me about his life. What brought him to my neighborhood, where he was from. He never replied to any of my questions. He just stared at me. He really did not need to reply for I saw all in his eyes. I could see he too had heartache and untold troubles. I reached out to touch his face to caress his beauty with my hands. He moved back with such a jerk I know he had encountered more pain then I have ever felt. I softly whispered to him that things would be okay and not to fear for neither one of us would ever feel desserted or lonely again. As the day went on I made the decision to introduce him to my children. As if they knew they ran up to him and gave him a hug. He excepted this gesture of love. They rolled and tumbled on the grass outside as the neighbors looked on with the upmost couriousity but we did not care. We all spent the rest of that day getting to know each other better. He has been with us for almost 12 years now. He does have a distinctive personality. He is like me with his moodiness. His feelings are sometimes hurt as mine do from time to time but when we apologize to each other things are back to normal. I will give him credit for being there for me when I have had a rough day or I'm just feeling blue. When he cuddles me I feel totally at ease. Well, I guess you should know his name. It is Patches. Patches was a stray cat that came into my life when I needed to feel wanted and loved and I would venture to say he needed me too! |

I really like that! My friend would love it. She took in a stray pregnant momma cat and found her babies homes. But not after keeping one of them! Kelly I love the male body, it's better designed than the male mind.---Andrea Newman |

This was a wonderful tale! Welcome to Passions and to Prose. I must admit that in the beginning I thought.."What woman are you nuts?!?!" then I got the feeling that there was going to be a punch line coming. Great job and I hope to see more from you.  |
