I'd like to be a house on a hill, high above the valleys below, my windows shining in the sun. My door open and welcoming to all who dare to climb the heights.

I don't have to be brand new, or fancy, or state of the art; just warm and inviting to all who come seeking solace from everyday life.

I'd like to be painted red or green or maybe just a nice wood patina, that has been muted and tempered by age and weather.

I'd like to have rockers and rugs on my front porch to bid my guests to stay.

I'd like to be surrounded by tall protecting trees, who'd sway and creak in the wind, but never break.

I'd like to have flowers and nature and all creatures of all sizes, co-exsisting nearby in a peaceful balance.

I'd like to be loved within. Filled with laughter and smiles and blueberry muffins. I don't need new things or even shiny things. Just much loved things, passed from mother to daughter, father to son. Things with a special history; and a feeling of roots, and home, and family.

I'd like my kitchen to be a gathering place for hungry tummies and hearts. A place to fill each need with a hug and a good measure of love.

I'd like my living room to be just that, a room for living. Full of memories of many comfy nights of movies and popcorn fights; and stolen kisses.

I'd like my master bedroom to be a place of tender love and trust, enough so that the feeling of love radiates to all who live there, and to anyone who passes by.

I'd like the children's room to be havens of rest and sweet dreams. A spot to nurture childhood fantasies, and a garden to grow good, strong, loving people.

I long to be a home rather than a house on a hill..........

I can understand the need in this piece, it speaks well to me.

What a wonderful ending, Angel. Amazing how one longing can outweigh every liking so clearly. Beautifully done, as always.

Indeed, a home is what you make, a house is where you live!
