I walk past a brightly lit gas station. It´s glow can be seen from miles around, it is the only piece of civilization at the edge of my highway. Been strolling along this road for years, i've reached it's end and gone back. done it several times now. , small inn's, gas stations, some few houses along the way, all their dwellers know who I am.yes they do. i wouldn't live any other way. jerry the gas attendant smiles and waves, hi i say while i reach for my usual sleeping place whenever i pass through this place. right next to Groto, the heavist most aggresive rotwiller ive ever known. he knows me and doesen't care to share his space with a bum. yep a bum. in three days i'll reach the end of this highway once more, right there i'll see my mark, my signal right next to the setting red sun. "You have reached the end, go back", is what I'll hear. I'll obey and start all over. once again through the road that will take me nowhere. the same road you walk i call it life you call it routine As i try to sleep Groto growls and wakes up, sees me and goes right back to his slumber. i´m sleepy, but i know that when i wake that same old highway will greet my bone, until i see my mark, my sign, that voice no more. |
