Fair to middlin' of nowhere

0 posted 2017-08-08 04:57 AM

Again today August
has sheathed her
dreaded heat
in rainy gray skies.
She has been
cool and demur
since she arrived,
Today I felt so blessed.
It was as if all this weather
is just for me.
August, the month
I dread all year long
has offered me
an olive branch.
My attitude of gratitude
has been reawakened.
Grateful feels so good
I walk around in it
like new shoes,
thanking God.

Oh, I agree Lori, this has been the coolest August I can recall. Zoe and I are loving it.

For whatever reason, I must be feeling better because I'm very much aware of feeling grateful for the weather. ~L

Gratitude is a powerful thing if you can see it in every single day. It's the opposite of apathy. Gratitude cultivates in you a more caring/appreciative attitude, especially in the weather you're seeing now.

That is... even if you were caring before, you are even more caring now (in a positive way, of course). That's the definition of gratitude standing on its own.

Cerulean,
Gratitude is especially crucial to my spirituality. Unfortunately, it is one of the first things to bite the dirt when my depression goes south. So I'm hoping it is a sign of a upturn. ~L

Let's hope so, Lori! By the way, I know you don't like links... but sometimes, videos can do a better job of explaining things.

A while back, I ran into a video that explains what causes depression much better than anything I've ever seen. I decided to bookmark it. I like to study psychology (as a hobby), so you're in luck.

So watch this 15-minute video by a man called Jacque Fresco and it will help you find your way out of depression, I hope. See here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-0ETX4z_DU

Pinkyahoo,
I know I want to take it as a personal blessing but there is this little voice in the back of my head that says it is from global warming. ~L
