A distinctive sound...

The crinkling of cellophane as you prepare your meal
The tinkling of the flakes as they accumulate in the china bowl

Milk rushing across and beneath them,
as the refrigerator door slowly closes with a "whuummmp"

"Crunch crunch", the spoon in your hand
crushes the flakes like a salvaged auto

Then gently, like fresh falling snow, your sugar sprinkles upon them,
so reassuring, so sweetly they rest

Soon, silent screams resonate throughout the house
as they're suddenly raised from their slumbers

Up! Up! Up, toward a huge open cavity filled
with darkness surounded by walls of white!

No! No!....! Aieeeee!!!!
“Chomp! Chomp! Chomp!

Yes, a most distintive sound.

Yes, I believe you nailed the "chomp chomp" sound, but you'd have missed if you tried it with me. I'm an oatmeal, cinnamon, honey and blueberries eater in the morning.

Yes Sir! There are oatmeal eaters in the crowd (Crowd? What? Where?)! Ali's lumpy oatmeal goes "smuck-smuck" when she parts her lips...that's what makes her crazy!

Some days Mr Bolton, at any given hour, mi mynd becomes ill.

Hah! I'm a slurper when I chow down on my oatmeal.

I am a fanatical slurper when I tackle my oatmeal.

interesting how we have our favorite "cereals". The sounds, the textures, the flavors all work together to bring us comfort and a sense of continuity to our days. I love cereal any time of day. ~L

Yes Lori Rhoden, I'm with you! I too like to have cereal when I want to have it without regard to the time of day. I just don't like hearing it talk back to me or panicking as I bring it up from the bowl to my mouth!

That's just plain silly! "Snap, crackle and pop"...really!!

Sure enjoyed your poem and the thoughts of a talking breakfast. I go with oatmeal, but love the crunch of granola.  Nice write.
Much enjoyed.

I enjoyed your poem....but it made me hungry.  And the pantry has no crunch or slurp in it anywhere.

""Snap, crackle and pop"...really!!"

Absolutely - Really! My all time favorite cereal particularly if I can top it with sugar,  evaporated milk at the least, or even better,  half & half.

Kellogg Corn Flakes second, same conditions,  and third Oatmeal with white sugar and either half & half or evap. milk - either milk in small quantity.

And that's just talking cereal, not all the other breakfast items.

Thanks Miss Martie, but too bad about your pantry. However, I'm not without a suggestion and that would be for you to head on over to the "Senryu City Grill". Pinky might be on duty at this hour if that lazy floozy Flossy has retired!

Save on unbussed plates with leftover slurple!

Thanks again!
