Ten Breaths To Zen
By: Noah Hibiscus Eaton
12/1/14

Four pence, eight pence, up to sixteen,
all for the corps, stand up and lean,
horns up, drill down,
sticks up to the sky,
summoning the battle cry...
.
.
...where the blue knights roll step,
in the Firebird Suite,
and the Promise of Living,
never succumbs to defeat,
the Hut on Foul's Legs,
makes a spacious retreat,
the color guard gyrates,
as you set the beat,
heart pounding:
“Uncharted!
Unplugged!
Unabashed!
Undeniable!”
.
.
So it be,
so it is,
you asked for love,
and now you're collecting bliss...
.
.
...bless this whole existence,
you asked for love,
and now you're collecting bliss...
.
.
A foal out of grad school,
striding 53rd and 6th,
all that you want,
is a Jacque Torres hot chocolate,
while walking down,
the Brooklyn Promenade,
but finances are fraught...
.
.
...you head to the art museum,
where the admission's free,
spend about half an hour,
staring at Monet's Water Lilies,
diving into this sea of thought,
finding pearls buried beneath,
vast and brilliant as the world you see,
when you're turning in your sleep,
immune to:
“Half-time,
down-time,
spare-time,
sometime...”
.
.
So it be,
so it is,
you asked for love,
and now you're collecting bliss...
.
.
...bless this whole existence,
you asked for love,
and now you're collecting bliss...
.
.
You could build pyramids,
out of safety pins,
but if the words you spoke,
appeared on your skin,
you wonder,
would you still be beautiful,
would you still be beautiful?

They've said girls with dreams,
become women with vision,
and if collecting bliss,
is your volition,
you know you are beautiful,
you know you are beautiful...
.
.
Swarovski statements,
gild each Flaming June,
and snow white organza,
is your fawn-eyed ingenue,
melting opals for your milk,
where luxurious silence flows blue,
with such an exotic perfume...
.
.
...yet when the moon lunges,
like a double drop chain,
a reminder there's no sole strand,
where all jewels are displayed,
mavens and trendsetters,
may maintain the interchange,
but happiness is an inside job,
and you're ordaining the drapes,
striding:
untamed,
proclaimed,
embraced,
acclaimed...
.
.
So it be,
so it is,
you asked for love,
and now you're collecting bliss...
.
.
...bless this whole existence,
you asked for love,
and now you're collecting bliss...
.
.

A very enjoyable write, dear Noah! Your poem has wings and I love the sound of the flapping ...
