~*~

Missing those days
and the way we never were
wading among the rise and fall
of some summers' sea.
I was she, selling sea shells
and so many sand dollars for the taking
never-mind the castles
washed away.

Each storm
like a silver torch
striking the chimes
of some sun day mass
painted a new day
like a wild fire in my mind
put to shame.

But the sky held up
relentlessly
like a black and blue shiner
bruising my mood.
I was there and it hurt
to burn so far down
lowering my sails
lost in the mist of perverse shadows
sending chills among the ripples
drifting endlessly
in order to heal.

But time does not stand still
and I don't know
if I will be here a year from now
being rescued sounds so needy to me.
But I often wonder if you wonder
or forget to remember
my heartache and what it took
to turn away and let go.

I have walked the silver strand
passing through windows a thousand times,
taking in the panorama
breathing you in
catching a glimpse of my reflection
held in your gaze
so faraway.

Oh, how I miss the warmth of my dreams
and the gentle breeze of the sea...
and making my bed
the way I used to.

What a mesmerizing, talented look back at the parting of ways. You outdid yourself, Lori, in wonderful expressive thoughts. This was the clincher . . .

I think that when something like this happens, more than one person shares in that heartache..

I wonder if it’s the potential to build more castles for all, the coming tides to be, that is most important

Sea shells are best when there are both parts to hold in all the life held within them

It was great to have you share a part of yourself on these pages again Lori..

Now you know, I always enjoyed reading you, and this is no exception - but getting two pieces for the price of one read . . . is awesome.

First the one above . . . a beauty all by itself, but,

Second, its "inner-soul" -----------

"Missing those days
and the way we never were,
each storm
like a silver torch.
I was there and it hurt
to burn so far down.
But I often wonder if you wonder . . .
or forget to remember,
passing through windows

taking in the panorama,
catching a glimpse of my reflection

Oh, how I miss the warmth of my dreams
and making my bed,

the way I used to."

Oh dear, Bluesy Gal, you've brought tears to my eyes.  I can so relate to this heart wrenching write so excellently penned - but what a price is paid for the writing of such a good poem.  Still, the price has been paid and the memories and the poem are wholly owned.  Treasures!

Beautifully rendered piece here.  The memory seems distant, the ache not so much.  I truly enjoyed this one.  Well done.

I often hoped you would come back and I am so glad you did and what a poetic comeback this is! Totally awesome. It is captivating at a deep level really. You have used wonderful imagery too.

And now be like the ocean, keep the memories in your depth, but on the surface enjoy the touch of today's sun and breathe in the possibilities of now.

Love,

Lori, I was looking for a poem of yours to ask you to please email me from the button in any of my poems.  You don't have one and I just would like to explain something briefly to you (nothing bad, lol!) - and I happened upon this exquisite poem, immersed in beauty, poignancy and memories . . . very, very beautiful.

Please will you email me - no rush.

'Missing those days
and the way they never were'
Poignant opening lines that infiltrate the heart of the poem. looking back, those dreams and might-have-beens can haunt us all, but letting go, even in heartache, is very often the right thing. It's not easy.
A very personal and emotive poem, written with grand style.

Wow,wow,WOW!!

You just squeezed the heck out of my heart!
This is a very special writing, but this verse is worth it's weight in gold, sea shells, starfish, and seahorses...
Not to mention sand castles.

Beautiful, my friend.

Bluesy,
Reading your poem once again, I noticed I hadn't written a comment--probably because I was so blown away with the grace in which it was written that I could not find adequate words in which to respond. Lovely, lovely writing!
