Two friends
Sat on a porch,
On a lukewarm afternoon,
The golden gleam of fall,
On each and every tree.

Two friends
Sat on a porch,
In hot debate,
One was a tinkerer ; quite unknown,
The other was a thinker of some renown.

Two friends,
They sat on a porch,
The leaves a golden tinge,
Each a memory
When the levee broke and tears poured out.

Two friends,
They sat on the porch,
With an old retriever,
Such a beautiful pup,
And a hammock and grass
And other such things.

Two friends
They sat on a porch,
With beer or tea or soda take your pick
And minutes passed as hours
And the hours as seconds often do.

Til the thinker
Went back to his migraines
And tinkerer to his arthritis.

Richard

Each malady particular to these fellows makes me curious how many of the world's troubles they solved before the weights came down.

A very good read leading to a great close.

I love this, Richard.  The anti-climax was a superb dénouement.  And the sweetie-pie retriever was the happiest of them all, the little (well, middle-sized) angel.

Very interesting set of circumstances, Richard.

If the mob governs, man is ruled by ignorance; if the church governs, he is ruled by superstition; if the state governs, he is ruled by fear.
