The forest edge is
dark and silent
but for the brittle
notes of deepest
   Winter
a bitter wind rules
a thousand miles
of ‘endless’ hills

It is the same
moon in all the
   waters
what lies on
either shore
of this
vast-eternal
sky and Time?

deep-Winter
empty day of
silent chill
a lone cloud
wanders off

In this barren land
of Winter’s desolation
the North wind
keeps no friends

shimmering stars
dance the evening
   breeze
A rising Winter crescent
slices the velvet cloak
of evening splendor

I long for a village
of peace-makers
and distillers of truth
market sounds
through the morning
    mist

Quite the romanticist you are Bruce, and not necessarily in the sense most think of romanticist, but one who sees the day and seizes upon it.

If the mob governs, man is ruled by ignorance; if the church governs, he is ruled by superstition; if the state governs, he is ruled by fear.
