HIGH FLYERS

Yellow-billed kite,
your flight
through today’s
clouds of greys and white,
wheeling and gliding,
climbing and dipping,
called to me,
captured my spirit,
and it rose high
and joined you,
mesmerised,
terrified,
but sky-flight alive
until you slipped
out of sight
and still I held my breath
in awe.

I am different now,
for today I birthed
the heart and wings
of a yellow-billed kite.

Reading your poetry about the Yellow-billed bird was inspiring.
Hearing it was a flight all its own. The graceful rise and fall brought each word into focus allowing the experience to be shared.

Thank you, Bluesy, for the grace of your kind words and for enjoying the flight in two dimensions and for understanding that poetry should be heard more than read.

Your nom de plume is fascinating. I, too, enjoy Plato's presentations of Socrates, though, as I am sure that you will appreciate, I don't agree with everything he said. He is, nevertheless, a delicious base from which to start discussions.
