Fair to middlin' of nowhere

Sweet Sixteen

She is a raven haired beauty
(from a box)
She has her mother's
hazel eyes
She is a svelte little fox
with a body that lies
Barbie  ain't got
nothin' on her girls
She is a makeup maven
and always smells divine
She is way too smart
with a mouth to match
Her wicked wit makes
you smile against your will
Heaven help me with
this beautiful child of mine
Nearly grown and gone
She's Sweet Sixteen
and we have to beat them
off her with a stick
I'm proud of my baby girl
last one in the nest
Have to admit this one
has really put me to the test
But I might just get lucky
and my little lovey
will turn out best

I have no doubt she will make you proud and happy. This is such a good poem, and I can feel the pride, with a little of the teenage angst about you.

That's a tough age there.  Not much in life harder than being the parent of a sixteen year old girl.  Been there, done that.  It all turned out good here.  I have faith it will for you too.

My two older sons from a different marriage are in their 30's and doing good, so I'm optimistic. (but I'm keeping my fingers crossed) Lord have mercy that child!

I saw your Papa carrying the cake...He was wearing a very big grin at his grandbaby's sweet sixteen party coming up. I told him to say hi to all after I gave him a great hug. I hope he did!

Those teenage years will try your soul. (I don't know why someone put the words sweet and sixteen together) but give it a couple of years and they suddenly turn back into a normal human being.

Well Sunshine, you know his memory isn't what it used to be... I know he was glad to get that hug! You are still an honorary member of the family.

msE Thank you for being here it is always good to hear from you. Girls went to bed when I got up this morning. I think that is the hallmark of a good party.

Ida! you are right it is an oxymoron! I think the two words just sounded good together...Pain in the butt sixteen just doesn't have the same ring to it. LOL
Thanks for the smile.
