we collect them
stains
no matter the uptown addresses
the downtown ghetto
they all have stains
no one is free from them
of one sort or another
we can hide our stains for years
decades
but one day
they will out themselves
what then should we do about our stains
not much
once there they can never be removed
they can only be hidden
until that treacherous, fateful day
it all catches up with you
stains . . .
there aren't any good stains
no
they never get to be a stain
if they are good
we share what we have that's good
but we don't share our stains
stains are like
voices echoing in a deserted alley
you know its there
you just don't want anybody else to know it
but with near silent hisses
your stains
terrify you as you desperately
pile on layer after layer of whatever it takes to bury it
no matter
in one unexpected instant
everything that was meant to be concealed
those hidden stains
you guard and hide jealously
is revealed
telling you in a moment's notice
that puny little you control nothing
not even your own stains
which
at any time can be
snatched from its hiding place
thrown into the light
like black glitter against the sun
your own personal cross of shame

Wow, pretty intense stuff JP!  I think we all have skeletons of some form or another.  There is no such thing as a perfect world....it's over rated if you ask me.  I don't know much, but I do know acceptance and forgiveness go a long way.

Nicely done Jerry and I especially liked those last lines.

You are most welcome, Karilea, and I read my mail before I got here. Yes, indeed we do write from, life. Life is all that we have.
