Listening to every heart

I read a poem today

Which made me think of
opposite things
instead of winter
ice
and cold

I thought of young girls
after a science lesson
looking for pollywogs
and little critters in water
bugs, and that enigmatic name
Species

And as we held our long
blonde hair back with one hand,
we peered over
little pools of water, searching
with wide eyes

Finding in reflection
the difference between
today
and
tomorrow.

Well, I for one, am truly glad you read a poem today.
Your reflective review had me swimming in past memories, searching too.

Love this write!!

Thank you, JL. I'm getting ready to give a workshop at a local university this week, and felt the need to say I had written at least ONE poem this year. I have three classes to prepare for, and am looking forward to this challenge!

I've been a month on "haitus" - Finding my space between my old "work life" and my new "retarded, er, retired life". I didn't want to push myself back into poetry...but today felt like a good day to find my pool of poets again.

Thank you so much for blessing this with your eyes.

It is always good to reflect back on the innocence that was us before the world changed things and us with it, Karilea. I thoroughly enjoyed this reflective poetry and good luck on the workshop, I am sure it will be a smashing success.

Sunshine,

I too am glad you read a poem today, and gladder still you "penned" one!

Makes me curious as to the inspiration.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

"A Little Shiver" by Barton Sutter, which I received courtesy of my connection with The Writer's Almanac that I receive daily in my email. Thank you Virginia! It's been a long time!
