He sits alone in midnight madness-
Bereft of either foe or friend.
Undisturbed by even sadness,
Silently awaits his end.

Naught of mirth, and naught of sorrow-
Not a hope, nor one regret,
Not a fear of what might follow,
Dangers shunned, or dangers met.

Just a wanderer, ceased from wandering-
A stone at last has ceased to roll.
Awaiting death and certain judgment-
As fate unrolls it’s dreadful scroll.

Life is what it is, I reckon-
Choices made and choices rued-
Distant voices warn and beckon-
The moral is: we all get screwed.

Very, very sad, John.

I think you may have a virus on your computer.  On 22 October 2012, "you" sent me and Alison and a few others an email with a link in it, starting with vellumcycles in the link name.  I think I opened it then, not realising that you probably hadn't sent it, but, if I remember correctly, I think it was something to do with job-seeking in the USA - which you wouldn't have sent to me knowing that I am in South Africa, so I realised it was probably as a result of a virus or similar.  I didn't reply to let you know because I didn't want to pick up the virus if I hadn't already got it (which I don't seem to have).  However, I felt that this was a safe medium to let you know so that you could do something about it.

Hmmm, I didn't find any sadness in the poem nor did I come to the same conclusion as the poem's end...my perceptions lead me to see death as a recycling machine...matter and energy are neither created or destroyed
they only change forms upon the death of life...WE are forever...it is only the form that changes. Therefore, my revolver of choice is double action and I have no fear when death is the challenger... Excellent thought poem...but didn't see it as hodgepodge...I saw it as "THE CHALLENGE"! RV
