I was flying back home to Amarillo.
We boarded in Philadelphia.
He was talking to me as we boarded the plane
and by coincidence we sat next to one another.
He wasnt shy, told me how lucky he was
to be sitting next to a pretty lady.
The man sitting in front overheard what he said
and turned around and looked at us.
He asked if I was married and I told him yes.
He seemed to be disappointed and backed off.
When we reached the airport in Dallas,
he asked if he could get my suitcase overhead.
I went to take it but he told me it was okay
and he carried it thru the airport for me like a gentleman.
He told me he would like to have a glass of wine in the bar with me,
but was in a hurry to catch another flight.
He shook my hand good bye and told me it was nice to have met me and walked away.
I caught my plane to Amarillo.
I walked to the steps in the airport,
and saw my husband waiting at the top as I dragged the heavy suitcase
up the steep steps to meet him.
Home sweet home again.

A poem is never finished, only abandoned.

There was another time I dropped my overnight bag coming down the esculator  at the airport and everything came out and this nice man helped me pick up everything and my husband never even knew because he was so far ahead of me. Somebody could have kidnapped me and he would have never known.
Thanks Jerry.

Enjoyed the read, well except the coldness and the frustration of ending in such disappointment.

Well penned.

That's how husbands behave sometimes. They don't always know what they have until they no longer have it.
