She use to wear her sleeves
like the fold of the arches
that drew an impasse
between the city and the countryside

Her eyes dimmed with the sorbet night
the knees quiet soul
laid upon her front porch
like the ides of march

Along the path
The runners passed
their shirts off
with the summer haze
sweat pouring, like water from the storms drain
leaking onto the pavements wet craft

Her knees buckled
every so often
the tinge of the backstreets corner
moved the bottom fringes of her dress
just east of the mountains
that drew near her home

Cotton sleeves
identical to her mothers
woven in its cotton braids
just like the street lanes
that crossed into the cities quite stride.
