The green-eyed monster
is lurking about,
spewing fire
from a sullen pout.
Wrecking havoc
on friend and foe.
Having learned nothing
from what has gone before.
I shudder for those
who are so inclined,
for Karma is following
close behind,
wearing that patient
all-knowing smile
as she prepares to
reprimand her wayward child.

Hah! I posted one of mine about the green-eyed monster called, "Man and His Burden." Our minds think alike, Ida.

But you are right, Karma can inflict total wreckage on this situation.

Right on Ida
I like how you brought this to a conclusion.

Good work!

Thanks, Jerry. I guess jealous people can't help themselves but I find it to be the ugliest of emotions.

Thanks for commenting, Eric. This is the conclusion I have observed when jealousy rears it's head.

This is a gem, dear Ida, so true and written with mastery.

Thank you, James.

Thank you, Margherita. I've had this poem in my head for a while now. I've watched people make horrible messes of their lives because of this very ugly emotion and it's not only relationship jealousy but jealousy of what others have, how they look etc. and it never ends well.

I read this a few times, and noticed the little green dragon as your icon. (Made me smile.)

Jealousy...I've been playing "Everybody Hurts" on loop, and I'm going to drive my family loopy if I don't stop.

Not sure if I'm missing something, but if I am, I'm glad. I've had my share.

I've moved on to ENVY.

And so few things do end well, but your poetry has a way...
