Gone

Your memory wears no cologne
yet sniffs the air
that is filled with the smell
of empty rooms
the presence of your promises.
I still feel you move inside me
when shadows sip
beneath the breath
and I know
I'm too young to feel this damn old.

You cling to the glaciers of my soul
disappearing in the snow
that drifts across
the white mask of my weeping breasts.
I am pinned by my longing
the memory of rain ~
the cricket’s coo on the morning
time was a thief.

You linger dreams of shattered warmth
clothing me in the happiness
of this primal raw ache
how I loved loving you
how I wanted to be the mother of your child.

Goodbye
is not even close
to the right word
if there even is a word.

I've searched for you
but you're gone
you've been gone too long;
and I scathe tears within tears ~ the sound of pain

rotting quietly in my palms.

Some days
I half expect to find you
yet there is nothing
but the stillness of stone
the silence of want
and the breaking of my heart.

My greatest friend
you are gone.

This poem echos silently with a dull ache and the longing for former times, it must have taken a lot of emotional energy to write it, the wrenchining longing for what might have been, but is now gone.
It represents a healthy stage of healing old  wounds that are still too raw to write about I’m sure, but thank you for sharing this peak of your inner life.
As for Canada, I’ve been upset that I can no longer get 680 news on the Internet and I don’t know why and I am clumsy with computers (chuckles)
I can’t believe this doesn’t have any replies but I’m glad to have been the first one!!

Melissa

Excellent word pictures with beautiful illustrative flow.
I found the pain in this writing very soothing.

I do play blues music and it's always been said, "the blues will heal ya."

I really enjoyed the melancholy beauty in this piece.

Ethome and Dadygoose~

Thank you so much for your replies

I've written a plethora of poems about my ex for catharsis.....It certainly does help with the healing process.
I've known my ex since I was 19 years old and we just broke up at age 30,we were planning on finally getting married and then it ended.  So now at age 30 I have to start over, but I trust in Jesus and will find the man I'm meant to be with

Time will heal a broken heart. Have faith it is always darkest just before the dawn.

Thank you Billie
And yes I agree that time does heal all wounds, it isn't just cliche.....and I trust in God enough to know that there's a lesson to be learned and I agree with you that it's the darkest before the dawn

No, baby....

You won't find the man...

He will mine you!

Take a breath from Kiss mentor,
Gene Simmons, that the best man will stray...
but if the rope is loose, he'll stay closer.

Let's talk, sooner.

Melissa, I only have simple words for you. I am in love with your sense of writing, it speaks to me like whispered breaths on a misty mirror.

Bless you poetess.
This one will be impossible to forget.

Truly inspired writing,
and that is probably what makes it word perfect.
